Cannabis and total sleep time, is there a link?

It is recommended that people sleep 8 hours each night. A good night’s sleep plays a big role in the health and well-being of your health as a whole. If a person gets the right amount of sleep, it means that they spend a third of their life sleeping, which further underlines the importance of sleep for people.

Unfortunately, not everyone gets enough sleep every night.

Poor sleep can significantly lower a person’s life expectancy due to an increased risk of obesity, heart disease and diabetes. When a person is sleep deprived regularly, it is a very serious health problem that needs to be addressed immediately.

According to a recent study, marijuana may have the potential to help people who struggle to get enough sleep at night.

Increase total sleep time

Researchers have recently looked at a link between marijuana use and the amount of sleep you get at night. The research team is based outside of California. However, as sleep problems arise around the world, the results of this study are important and applicable worldwide.

“We wanted to examine the association between daily cannabis use and objectively measured sleep quality in adults and adults with and without HIV”, the researchers said. This study involved 17 subjects aged between 50 and 70 years.

Each subject reported marijuana use and sleep duration for 14 consecutive days by examining a smartphone app.

“In a linear model with mixed effects, cannabis use was significantly associated with longer total sleep time (ß = 0.56; p = 0.046). Cannabis use was not associated with any changes in sleep performance (ß = 1.50; p = 0.46). with sleep fragmentation (ß = 0.846, p = 0.756) on days with cannabis use compared to days without cannabis use. ”According to the study.

The investigators concluded that “these preliminary results suggest that marijuana use may have a positive effect on sleep time in older people.”

Cannabis and total sleep time – a safer option

There are several sleeping pills that are available over the counter and only by prescription for people with sleep deprivation.

There are many home remedies available, but they are not always effective and are often based more on subjective opinion and anecdotal evidence than on solid scientific evidence.

Prescription drugs used to treat sleep disorders are not always effective, and even if they do occur, they usually have many side effects.

Even over-the-counter drugs can have dangerous side effects in most cases.

Marijuana, on the other hand, is much safer and, in some cases, a much more effective option. Marijuana doesn’t have many of the side effects that accompany other drugs.
